What Happens at a Cardiology Consultation
During your visit, you will be asked questions about your family medical history as well as some other specific questions related to your heart health.
Please bring the following with you:
- A list of your medicines
- Family medical history
- Your medical history
- A list of all health care providers
- Any questions you may have
Early Detection
A cardiology consultation is an important preventive measure to heart disease. You should schedule a consultation if you think you are having cardiac problems, if you have a family history of cardiac health problems, or as a pre and post-operative preparation.
Heart Disease Risk Factors
While this is not an all inclusive list, shown below are some risk factors:
- Males
- Older Age
- Family History of Heart Disease
- Being Post-Menopausal
- Race (African-Americans, American Indians, and Mexican Americans are more likely to have heart disease than Caucasians.)
- Smoking
- High LDL (Bad) Cholesterol
- Obesity or Physical Inactivity
- Uncontrolled Diabetes
- Uncontrolled Stress, Anger, or Depression
- Excessive Alcohol Use
